When I got the Wahoo KICKR Headwind Smart Fan back at the start of 2020, I really didn’t think it was gonna be that special. I remember the first thing I did was to test how high the highest setting was… and it blew the pictures on the wall behind my bike right off the shelf.
It was strong.
After almost two years, and some crazy hot weather, I decided to write a review for the blog.
Wahoo Headwind Fan Features
One of the main features of the KICKR Headwind is the sensor controls which you can link to your speed or heart rate. It also has 4 manual speed settings with over 30 mph windspeed.
You can also control the fan speed via the Wahoo app, however, when using Zwift companion on my phone I’ve found it a bit tricky to connect to the fan via the app but not the trainer.
The design of the Headwind allows it to fit perfectly with the KICKR Desk (or alternative). The wheels on the KICKR Headwind allows the fan to roll with the desk as you move it backwards or forwards while on the bike.

Is The Wahoo KICKR Smart Fan Worth It?
That’s really a matter of personal preference and your finances. The major tell tale sign of value is whether or not you will use it, do you agree?
Since I”ve had mine, I’ve not use my alternative since (other than off the bike / in a different room). Although my alternative served me well, I’ve enjoyed using the Wahoo KICKR Smart Fan.
Best Wahoo Fan Alternative
Let’s be honest here; much like the Wahoo KICKR Desk, the fan is expensive. Before I got it, I was happy with a small fan I’d picked up off of Amazon – I got this fan from Amazon as it came recommended. It doesn’t take up much space and kept me perfectly cool.
Add a smart plug with remote, and voila. You’ve got yourself a smart fan that you can actually use even if you forget to switch it on before you start your ride.
